How to get a Swiss Driving licence:

After than a year after living in Switzerland, your foreign driving licence is invalid in Switzerland.

Exception for Ukrainian Citizen`s:

Exchange period of 24 months for people from Ukraine with protection status S. With your Ukrainian Driver's License you are allowed to drive cars and other motor vehicles for 24 months from the granting of protection status S.

This only applies if you do not drive for work. After 24 months, you are only allowed to drive in Switzerland if you have passed a practical Exam.

If you have a driving license from one of these countries, you do not have to take a driving test or an additional theory test: Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Great Britain, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Croatia, Latvia,

Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary and Cyprus.

Within 5 Years you can still apply for exchange your foreign License. You`ll get a temporary License valid for 3 month`s.

How to enrol for a test drive:

1.Download the application form and fill in the Particulars.english translation

2.Visit an Optician,make an Eyetest.(show your residence permit)

3.Go to the Gemeindeverwaltung of your Commune.
Carry with you: Applicationform,2 coloured pics, your Foreign Driving License.

4.They keep the Documents and forward them to the Traffic Authority (Motorfahrzeugkontrolle) in Füllinsdorf.
After validation of your Documents,you receive a provisional Driving License and a Registration Paper.
Be aware:Once you apply,your provisional license is valid only 3 months!

Even you just entered Switzerland!
Please register for the Test only in agreement with me.

5. Start Driving Classes.

6. Practical Test. Swiss Driving License will be valid for a lifetime.

You have only one attempt.

If you fail,or no show, your foreign license is immediate invalid in Switzerland.
